(Monroe, WA.) A warm afternoon led to a cool evening as five classes in the NASCAR Whelen All American Series competed at Evergreen Speedway on a night of racing presented by Nationwide Insurance. After Heat race action was completed, and a Drifting demonstration filled the gap between B-Mains and the feature races it was Pawn X-Change Super Figure Eight time. Coming into the evening second in points Nick Gunderson was looking for his first win of the season. After battling his way through the pack to take the lead he drove on to take just what he was looking for, a win!

In the Speedway Chevrolet Super Stock division a visiting Shane Harding showed patience and persevered to finally take advantage of a late caution that had him right on the bumper of leader Mike Holden. On the final lap in turn two he was able to get under Holden to wrestle the lead away after Holden had held it for the last half of the main. Driving on to victory Harding quipped, “Now my dad can’t say he has one more win than me this year”. Holding his newborn Daughter, as he was interviewed she cried out over the microphone. He quickly followed with “She’s saying thanks to my sponsors…” In an earlier incident Darren Hall after taking the lead of the main in the final laps, ended up in a race-ending incident with Jeff Holden and John Zaretzke.

The Les Schwab Tires Bombers put on a great show with Jill Lang taking an early lead then holding off defending champion lane Sundholm who was closing fast. She was quick to thank Ron Fritzley for all his support and was glad to bring home a trophy for him.

The Mini Stocks had a full field of cars that ran the tough 3/8’s oval in typical Mini Stock style. Brent Rohrer took charge early and with a fast car held off Mark Weedin in a last lap dash to the finish line.

Stinger Eights surprised the fans with yet another wild and crazy, busy intersection race. “The Wizard” Ben Chandler, a fan favorite, and former Figure Eight Champion along with his eight time FEAR presidency past, managed a fabulous second place finish. Meanwhile, Sean Peters demonstrated his talented figure eight racing skills winding his way through traffic and to the win.
