May 10 Recap...

(Bothell, WA) WOW!!!!! What a day and night the Mini Stockers had! For the first time since maybe 1999, we had enough cars to run a "B" main! 23 cars in all made there way to the Speedway, not bad as three years ago we were lucky to have 12!

The day started off pretty good, times in's were done on a cool and dry track! The sky was making me nervous as most of the class were doing a rain dance for sure! Heat one came and guess what? It rained. I was in this heat race, Rookie Jeff Kessler led every lap except the last one, I was lucky to be right on his rear bumper when he slipped up in turn one! Heat race number two was won By Kim Lang in the #33 Scirocco! Way to go Kim! Heat race number three was won by Chuck Richard.

Because of the looming weather, we were pushed all night to get back to our cars and line up! The first "B" Main in many years was won by Travis Bliven. We have a two car move up for first and second, or you can take the trophy. Travis crossed the line first and took the move up, Aren Loiser drove her guts out in the fourth groove for six laps trying to pass Travis, she crossed the line in second and took the winners trophy. Jade Baumann was the other "move up" car.

"A" main time and 17 cars lined up for a good one. Because we finished in the top three last race, Kris Harriss, Chuck and myself had to start at the rear of the field. This race was a 30 lap, no yellow flag battle. John Roberts in his brand new RX7 took off and led the first 15 laps. I actually didn't know that, I read it in the Herald. I was stuck in the back. We just had no where to go! After maybe five laps Chuck found an opening and I just followed him! After several intense laps we finally had some clean air, Chuck went a little high off turn number two and I snuck under him, at the same spot on the next lap he returned the favor! I followed him again for a while and then we raced door to door for maybe three laps, I finally made it past and John Roberts and Kim Lang were in a battle of their own! I was right behind them, they were bumping and banging, fighting for the lead! Entering turn one on about lap 24 Kim and John made big contact I had to grab a full brake pedal to avoid them, but they just kept going!!! Eventually the new RX7 started slowing down, I think a plug wire fell off?? And I raced Kim for several laps for the lead. Let me just tell you! That girl can drive! What an awesome race. Towards the end I was able to finally make the pass coming off turn four and was lucky enough to hold on for the win! WOW is all I can say!!!

I didn't see it but Joe Hobbs and Drew Harthorn got together in the first rain soaked heat race. I didn't realize it til the race was over that Joe had to much damage to make the main. That sucks Joe!!!

I feel sorry for the Bombers, after our race I loaded my car and headed home, I wasn't even to Highway 2 and the sky let go. I could barely see driving down 522, I can only imagine how those bomber drivers felt!

Thanks to all the fans who came out and supported us this weekend, and thanks to all the nice people who came up and said hello!

Kim Lang was voted the driver of the week! Way to go Kim!! If you would like to visit our web site and follow all the goings on, just go to http://www.monroeministocks.com/

We will all meet again on the 31st of May. I will keep ya posted of anything going on and any juicy rumors!
