(Bothell, WA) It's the night before the big race, round two of the 2008 Mini Stock season. Allot has gone on in the couple day's since I last updated the blog.
Thursday night was an open practice at the speedway and seven mini stocks came out to dial their cars in. The new RX7 was out and looking good, Kris Harriss was out and running low 19's, if it is true what I heard, he was faster than I know he has run before! Two rookies came out to test the waters, one tested well and one found out the big tires on the inside of turn one don't give! Ouch. Rod Helmuth was entering turn three and ran over a bracket someone had lost from their car, it broke his oil sending switch and he spun off turn one in a huge cloud of smoke and oil. He say's it will be there tomorrow?
Sounds like we are in store for a great night of racing! I spoke to Nat Barber and he will not be there, Vegas was calling! Steve Green will be out on the 31st, I don't think Drew Harthorn will make it either, he sustained some pretty bad damage in race number one!
And if you follow the blog "Trackside" by Scott Whitmore on heraldnet.com, he predicted John Z in the supers, Lane Sundholm in the Bombers and Chuck Richard in the Mini's. A fair bet for sure choosing the three 2007 champions.
This race every year is a big deal to Chuck and I. Our birthday's are one day apart and we both always want to win the race nearest our birthdays. Chuck told me today he is winning this one for him mom on mothers day. Whatever, you better buy her a card!
See all of you at the track tomorrow! Should be fun!!!!
