EVERGREEN SPEEDWAY 2009 HORNET RULES

A Few Easy Steps To Lots of Fun!

1. Any 4 cylinder car with a maximum wheel base of 103.5” and a complete stock Steel body, interior, frame and suspension. Any car with a longer wheel base must be pre approved with speedway prior to day of event. (Call office with any questions on exemption/exception on wheel base length) All cars must have complete stock Steel body, interior, frame and suspension. NO bracing anywhere except inside the drivers compartment. No Rotary engine allowed! No all-wheel drive vehicles. 4 cylinder Ford Fairmont’s, “large bodied” 4 cylinder cars, or cars not matching the intent of rules or existing field will be allowed! Any car determined “exotic” by officials, will not be allowed to compete.

2. Roll bars: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Either a single hoop rollover bar or a 2” OD pipe or equivalent steel upright, with 8” square steel mounting plates on each end. Mounted vertical from roof to floor pan, located behind the driver’s seat. A second upright may be mounted in front of the front passenger seat. Roll bars and Uprights must be bolted with 1/2” bolts to the floor pan and roof.

3. Driver’s door must be welded or chained shut. Must have driver’s side door reinforcement, with a minimum of a 6” C channel bolted to the outside of the door with 1/2” bolts. All edges must be trimmed of sharp edges. Passenger door must be chained, but still must be able to be open. WINDOW NET REQUIRED, securely fastened at top and bottom, with approved latch device, no seat belt latches!

4. Dashboard, Steering and Pedals must remain completely stock for make and model of car. All insulation under hood must be removed.

5. Car horns must remain intact and in working condition.

6. Stock carburetor or fuel injection for that make and model.

7. Transmission for that make and model.

8. Stock Exhaust system for that make and model. MUFFLERS MANDATORY.

9. Battery must be securely fastened and remain under hood.

10. Stock unaltered rear end for that make and model.

11. Approved DOT 60 series or bigger passenger tires only not to exceed a $50.00 retail value. Wheels and tires must be of like size. NO low profile-type tires. No NU tread or racing style tires. Any tire may be purchased by officials for $50.00 each, at any time. Includes any tire on car or in your pit area. Tire rules apply to all tires brought into speedway.

12. Gas Tank;

a. If stock gas tank is ahead of rear axle it may remain in place. A fuel cell or plastic boat tank 6.6-gallon maximum is RECOMMENDED – Subject to tech

b. If stock gas tank is behind rear axle, it must be replaced with a fuel cell or plastic boat tank (6.6 gallon maximum). RECOMMENDED

c.Fuel cell/boat tanks must be covered, secured and located in trunk.

13. All glass (except front windshield) must be removed prior to arrival to the track.

14. Third brake light MUST remain intact and in working condition.

15. Approved helmets, gloves and long sleeved garments required. (No nylon) Fireproof driving suits are highly recommended.

16. Seat belts are mandatory. 5-point racing harness HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and WILL BE REQUIRED FOR 2010. 4-point “buggy” type harness will be permitted thru end of 2009

17. Cars may be painted any color or combination of colors. Have fun!

18. Car numbers on doors MUST be at least 20” tall in an EASY TO SEE color. Roof numbers must be at least 32” in height. If we cannot read # you will not be scored.

19. $500.00 Management claim in effect at all times. CLAIM DOES NOT INCLUDE FUEL CELL, RACING SEATS, RACING BELTS, OR OTHER SAFETY EQUIPMENT.

20. No two way radio communications between driver and/or pits/grandstands.

21. Drivers who do not own transponders will be given the option of renting or purchasing from Evergreen Speedway at a discounted rate.

Line-ups are at the discretion of Track Officials. Line ups will be determined by experience level, practice and/or qualifying lap speed. Any driver determined to be sandbagging will be moved to the next higher class.
